Amazing Grace Doula Service
Our Mission
To support, educate and advocate for women and families during significant life events, with empathy and grace
About Us
Amazing Grace Doula Service was founded with an emphasis on the Christian principles of service to others. Amazing Grace strives to assess the needs of families and provide them with appropriate services. We embrace diversity in a non-bias way to achieve best outcomes.
What's a Doula Anyway?
A Doula is a non-medical trained professional that provides coaching, continuous emotional, physical, informational and advocacy support for expecting mothers before, during and shortly after childbirth. Doula’s also provide similar support for end of life care.
Evidence shows that continuous support from a doula can decrease the risk of Cesarean, the use of medications for pain relief, and the risk of low newborn Apgar scores. Labor support increases satisfaction and the chance of a spontaneous vaginal birth. Continuous support may shorten labor and decrease medical interventions. Research has shown that with some outcomes, doulas have a stronger effect than other types of support persons. As such, doulas are viewed by both parents and providers as a valuable, evidence-based member of the birth care team."
A message from our founder
Hi my name is Crista and after serving 26 successful years in healthcare that included working in women's health and then in corporate healthcare education, I was called to provide education and support to women during childbirth and postpartum. My Grandmother Grace, before me was a pioneer in obstetrics and service to others, Therefore, Amazing Grace Doula Service was born to honor Grace's legacy and as my ministry to serve others.
Amazing Grace's philosophy is to look around and identify what the needs are within your life, in other words, how can we be of service to you? Does being of service to you mean that we are at your side to help bring your most precious new life into the world and help educate you at a very venerable time? Does it include helping you get the rest you need while we meal prep for you during your postpartum period? It could even mean that we hold the hand of someone you love who is leaving this world. We know that everyone has very specific needs and we are here for you to provide resources, education, physical work and of course kindness understanding and grace.
About me personally, I have an amazing family of my own. I love to camp, spend as much time at the beach as humanly possible and plant succulents. I practice and guide others in mindful meditation and hope Amazing Grace can be a blessing in your lifes journey
Warmest wishes,
Crista Martinez
